Another option, starting in PowerPoint 2010 for PC, is to toggle math mode by pressing Alt-=, which will allow you to write math using LaTeX syntax (note, however, that your formulas won't necessarily display correctly in other versions of PowerPoint, particularly on a Mac; thanks to Claudio Orlandi for checking this). - Start typing your equation. PowerPoint watches any text you type in an equation and does its level best to figure out how the text should be formatted. For example, suppose you enter the following: a = (b + 2c) / 2b. When you press Enter, PowerPoint formats the equation automatically, as shown.

Once you insertan organization chart in PowerPoint 2011, you might find that the shapes available are not sufficient for your requirements, and you may want to add some more shapes to yourorg chart. The default org chart that PowerPoint places has very few shapes -- also you may need more hierarchy levels for the new shapes you want to add. Fortunately, you can make these additionsand edits with just a click or two. Follow these steps to start adding more shapes and hierarchy levels to your org charts in PowerPoint 2011:
- Select your existing org chart, and select an shape within the org chart to add a new shape in relation to the selected shape, as you can see in Figure 1.

Depending on the original shape you selected, all options in the Add Shape sub-menu may not be available. For example, if you select the topmost shape in your org chart, you will find that the Add Shape Above option may be grayed.
Add Shape sub-menu options are explained below:- Add Shape After: To insert a shape at the same hierarchy level as the selected shape (to create an adjacent shape), click the Add Shape After option (see Figure 2). This works best when you want to add another person at the same organizational level as the shape you selected -- the new shape is placed to the right of the original shape as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3: Shape added after the selected Shape - Add Shape Before: To insert a shape at the same hierarchy level as the selected shape (again creates another shape adjacent to the selected shape), click the Add Shape Before option (see Figure 2). This works best when you want to add another person at the same organizational level as the shape you selected -- the new shape is placed to the left of the original shape (see Figure 4).
Figure 4: Shape added before the selected Shape - Add Shape Above: To insert a shapeone hierarchy level above the selected shape, click the Add Shape Above option (see Figure 2). This option adds the new shape in the position of the existing, selected shape. Also, the existing shape then moves down to a new hierarchy level, as you can see in Figure 5.
Figure 5: Shape added above the selected Shape - Add Shape Below: To insert a shapeone hierarchy level below the selected shape, click the Add Shape Below option (see Figure 2). This option adds a new shape in the hierarchy level below the selected shape. If a shape already existed in the hierarchy level below the selected shape, this option adds a new independent, hierarchy level (see Figure 6).
Figure 6: Shape added below the selected Shape - Add Shape Assistant: To place an assistant shape below the selected shape, select the Add Shape Assistant option (see Figure 2). This inserts ashape which is placed at an intermediate level, but lower than the selected shape (see Figure 7). Do remember that the Assistant option has no real hierarchy level since these posts (such as a secretary) are often linked to the shape (such as the boss), for whom they are the assistants. So a secretary to the Vice President of a company remains his or her secretary when the Vice President is promoted to become the President.

- Add Shape After: To insert a shape at the same hierarchy level as the selected shape (to create an adjacent shape), click the Add Shape After option (see Figure 2). This works best when you want to add another person at the same organizational level as the shape you selected -- the new shape is placed to the right of the original shape as shown in Figure 3.
- Save your presentation.
Tip: To delete a shape within an org chart, just select the shape you want to remove and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Add an equation to your Pages, Numbers, or Keynote document

- Tap or click where you want to add the equation, either in your document or in a text box or shape,then follow the steps for your device:
- On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap the Insert button , tap the Media button , then tap Equation.
- On your Mac, from the menu bar, choose Insert > Equation.
- Enter an equation using LaTeX commands or MathML elements.1 On iPhone and iPad, you can also use the shortcut symbols above the keyboard. When you finish typing, a preview of the equation appears.2
- Click or tap Insert.3
Use MathType
You can also use MathType with Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for Mac if you have MathType 6.7d or later installed. The first time you insert an equation, select Use MathType, or turn it on in Preferences:
- Open Pages, Numbers, or Keynote.
- Choose [Application] > Preferences.
- Select the 'Insert and edit equations with MathType' checkbox.

1. To make equation authoring easier, the equation editor is in math mode by default, so it isn't necessary to add math mode commands to your equations.
2. If the preview is empty or displays an error, check your equation to make sure it’s correct.

3. If an equation is by itself on a line of text, the equation centers based on the equals sign. To center based on the middle of the equation, add a space before or after the equation.
